The Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the city and is reaching out to tell you about a new free community-focused workshop series that they will be bringing to Steveston.
These workshops are customized for the community they are delivered in and are designed to provide residents with not only the information necessary to prepare for emergencies of all sizes, but also practical tools and skills that can be immediately used.
As most parents spend their days at work, often in a different municipality from their children, it is important to have family emergency plans in place in the event of an emergency - large or small.
These new workshops not only provide the common "Emergency Preparedness" information that many have heard before but also involve attendees working directly with facilitators to create personal emergency plans -- every participant will go home with tools they can use for their families making them measurably more prepared.
In addition, after the workshops participants are eligible to attend additional emergency skills training such as Basic Fire Suppression, First Aid, Rapid Damage Assessment, and more. All offered by the city for the purpose of better connecting, informing, and preparing the community.
Steveston workshops are taking place on the following dates:
· Sun Mar 25th, from 1:00-5:00pm at Steveston Community Center (city event code 2325943), and
· Sat Mar 31st, from 1:00-5:00pm at Steveston Community Center (city event code 2325992)
Parents can register and get more information on the workshops by going to www.richmond.ca/rrcp/.
