Equity and Inclusion at Homma

The Richmond School District is in the process of developing a strategic plan.  One part of that plan is about Equity and Inclusion.

Equity and inclusion are foundational to learning and leading, and are critical to success, wellbeing, and fulfillment. It is our mission to ensure that all of our students, families, and staff feel welcomed, are treated respectfully, and have a sense of belonging. We acknowledge our responsibility to support all learners so they may successfully complete their education with a sense of dignity, purpose, and options.

We are seeking input from staff, students and families about how they feel welcomed, respected and have a sense of belonging in the Homma community.  We are beginning by asking 5 questions to students in Grades 5 through 7, with parental consent, that ask for input around, but are not limited to, race, culture, gender, LGBTQ, sibling, languages spoken, etc.  The questions and their answers will be shared with our school staff and will be a valuable resource for us moving forward in determining our next course of action as we continue to work towards providing an equitable and inclusive community.
