The Week Ahead - June 7 to 11
We hope you have been enjoying the weekend despite the rain that started to fall this morning! It continues to be full and busy days at Homma as we enter the home stretch of the school year.
This week has been one of reflection and conversation as students learned and processed the recent events on the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc territory in Kamloops. Many of our staff and students wore orange through out the week to honour those lives lost. If you dropped your child off before school this week you will likely have noticed our staff gathered in a welcoming circle at both the front and back of the school to show honour and respect, and to ensure our students know that every child matters.
On Friday, Ms. Gill and Mr. Madrigal finished their extended practicums with Mme Joinville and Ms. Szelagowicz. We wish them all the best as they move on to their three week field experiences, Ms. Gill at Mitchell Elementary and Mr. Madrigal in our Outdoor Classroom with Mrs. Regan and Mrs. Zeni.
Attached with the Week Ahead is information from the Richmond Public Library about their Summer Reading Program. You will also notice important information contained in the Week Ahead about Indiginous History Month, Summer watering for the Homma garden, student involvement at the Steveston Farmers and Artisan Market, and The CIty of Richmond cycling path feedback. Also reattached are the important dates for the upcoming school year with our first activity being Meet the Teacher on Wednesday, September 22nd - times and format to be shared the first week of September.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday and we will see you all tomorrow,
Mrs. Major and Mr. Vines
