Interpreting Reading Results

The Spring Reading assessment results from Fall 2023 and Fall 2024 (posted below) were discussed by Staff in grade groupings and programs; Staff broke into lower primary, upper primary, lower intermediate and upper intermediate for both English and French programs. The following observations were noted and shared by Staff during these discussions:

  • What each grade should focus on next year (ex. decoding, fluency or comprehension
  • How the data could be presented differently visually to facilitate interpretation of the data
  • Challenges to completion of entering data (time constraints)
  • Interpretation of the results requires an understanding of the classroom context at that time
  • Consideration of Social-Emotional well-being as a factor that could influence the results; students have communicated to staff that literacy activities make them anxious
